Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 14, 2026. Gift.tax is operated by Wise Prince LLC, a California limited liability company, which is the data controller for personal data processed to provide Gift.tax. Mailing address: 13319 Poway Road, Unit 444, Poway, CA 92064. Contact: raj@wiseprince.com.
1. What Gift.tax does
Gift.tax provides educational information about US federal gift tax and simple annual-exclusion arithmetic. It does not prepare or file returns, give legal or tax advice, or guarantee any tax outcome.
2. Information we store
- Conversations without an account. If you ask a question or run the free check without signing in, your questions, suggested facts, facts you confirm, and check results are stored on Gift.tax servers. They are linked to a random session identifier in a browser cookie, not to your name. These records are not stored only in your browser.
- Accounts. If you create an account, we store your email address and authentication data (or your Google sign-in identifier), plus the conversations, confirmed facts, check results, and Gift Ledger records (recipient labels, amounts, years) you save.
- Email sign-ups. When you download the free Form 709 PDF, unlock the "gifted this year" report, or create an account, we store your email, which optional boxes you checked, when you checked them, the version of the wording you saw, and the ad source of your visit (UTM source/campaign and Google click ID, if any). Payment-app, bank, card or QuickBooks statements you upload (Venmo, Zelle, Cash App, PayPal, QuickBooks, bank statements and more) are read in your browser and discarded; they never reach our servers.
- Usage counters. We record counts of AI requests per session or account to enforce usage limits.
- Attachments and voice notes. Files and voice notes you attach to a question are processed to extract text and are not saved. Only extracted text you review and choose to send is kept as part of your question.
Please don't enter Social Security numbers, account numbers, or other identifiers — they aren't needed. Gift.tax removes some patterns such as Social Security and account numbers, but it does not automatically remove names or guarantee anonymization.
We use this information to provide the service (contract performance), to keep it secure and prevent fraud (legitimate interests), and to improve it (legitimate interests). We do not use it for advertising.
3. Cookies
- A session cookie that links your browser to your conversations without an account (expires after 7 days of inactivity).
- Sign-in cookies or browser storage when you have an account.
We use essential cookies, plus one optional ad measurement cookie from Google Ads that is set only if you choose Allow in the cookie banner. It tells us which ad brought you to the site; your gifts, questions and form answers are never sent to Google. We also record anonymous page steps (for example, starting a Form 709 draft) tied to a random per-tab identifier, not to your name or account, to see where visitors get stuck.
4. Service providers that process data
- Lovable (hosting, database, authentication) — stores the records above.
- Lovable AI Gateway and its model providers (including OpenAI models) — process attachments, voice notes, and AI answers. Requests are sent with provider storage turned off.
- ElevenLabs — processes live voice conversations only when you start one. Gift.tax's agent is configured with audio recording off, a 0-day conversation retention setting, and deletion of transcripts and audio. ElevenLabs may still process and briefly hold data to provide the service.
- Google — only if you choose Google sign-in.
- Paddle — our online reseller and Merchant of Record. When you make a purchase, Paddle collects and processes your payment and billing information to complete the order, manage subscriptions, handle taxes and invoicing, and provide customer service for purchases. See Paddle's Privacy Policy.
We may also share data with professional advisers (legal, accounting) and with authorities where the law requires it. When you ask the text guide a question, your scrubbed question is sent to the AI model provider above to choose matching IRS-sourced explanations and identify facts for you to confirm.
5. How long we keep data
- Conversations without an account: kept while the session is active and deleted within 30 days after the session expires.
- Account data: until you delete it or your account.
- Backups and logs: up to 30 days, then deleted or anonymized.
6. Your choices
- Delete saved conversations from your workspace.
- Delete your account: email raj@wiseprince.com from your account email address and we will delete your account and its data within 30 days.
- Access or correction requests: email raj@wiseprince.com; we respond within 30 days.
7. Sharing and your state rights
We don't sell personal information, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Introductions to professionals happen only with your explicit permission.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request access to it, to correct it, to delete it, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. To exercise any of them, email raj@wiseprince.com; we respond within 45 days as the law requires.
Partner introductions and iGift
Two separate, optional checkboxes are unchecked by default. If you check "Introduce me to vetted advisors and partners (CPAs, estate attorneys, wealth managers)", we may share your name if given, email, and the general topic of your inquiry with a vetted professional or partner so they can contact you; we never share gift amounts, statements or tax forms without asking you again. Any referral compensation is disclosed. If you check "Send me the iGift.com newsletter", we share your email with iGift (an affiliated project in the Gift.tax ecosystem) solely to send that newsletter. You can withdraw either choice at any time by emailing raj@wiseprince.com or using the unsubscribe link; we record the withdrawal and stop further sharing.
The Google Ads tag loads only after you choose Allow in the cookie banner (Google Consent Mode defaults to denied). Choosing "No thanks" keeps it off.
8. Security
We use appropriate technical and organizational measures, including encryption in transit and access controls, to protect your data.
9. Changes
We'll post updates here and change the date above.
